Nostalgia.

There was lots of hugging. It’s been literally just over four years since the three of us had been together. We took a course together senior year of high school at a local technical high school. Each of us had a different home school, so we only saw each other for those couple of hours. Tonight reminded me of our friendship during that year.

I hope we get together again. I love those guys.

So, I’m gonna try a Tumblr game. There are 56 characters (give or take) from both the Marvel and DC universes in this picture. Since I KNOW this will be reblogged a LOT, here is the challenge. For all the nerds that will reblog this, name off ONE character in the picture. If you look at the notes, you should see who already did who, so try not to name one already tagged. :)
I’M FIRST!1) SPIDER-MAN

Robin!

Madman.

DOOP! :D (Darwyn Cooke is amazing)

Daffy Duck

Batman

Terry McGinnis (Batman Beyond)

Dr. Fate, you crazy bastard!

What they say, what I hear.

  • What they say: I don't like the idea of Universal Healthcare because it would be coming out of my paycheck and that is unfair. It's basically socialism.
  • What I hear: Even though my entire lifestyle and ability make my money is propped up on the continued exploitation of the lower working class.. I still find the idea of having to give some of my money to maintain the well being of all those lower class workers/people without healthcare a foolish idea because I am blinded by greed and unable to comprehend the idea of a betterment of community. If it doesn't make me money or doesn't have a direct effect on me I want nothing to do with it because I am selfish and ruining this country.

quote You start out in 1954 by saying “Nigger, nigger, nigger.” By 1968, you can’t say “nigger” — that hurts you. Backfires. So you say stuff like “forced busing,” “states’ rights,” and all that stuff. You’re getting so abstract now that you’re talking about cutting taxes, and all these things you’re talking about are totally economic things, and a byproduct of them is that blacks get hurt worse than whites.

Lee Atwater, a head republican strategist, in an anonymous interview in 1981. He is admitting that republicans use coded-language to appeal to the racists in their base. Because, as he always said, “people vote their fears.”

Lee, who would eventually become the head of the Republican National Committee, helped Ronald Reagan and George H.W. Bush win their Presidential elections by teaching them to use overtly-racist tactics.

When the N-word became taboo, Republicans began referring to black people in less-direct ways, with terms like “welfare queens.” They learned how to say the N-word, without saying the N-word.

Sadly, this still continues today. As seen in Newt Gingrich’s claim that Obama is a “food stamp President” and Rick Santorum’s assertion that he doesn’t “want to make black people’s lives better by giving them someone else’s money.”

I want to go back.

I feel like being the 18 year old me again, whose on the precipice of starting college. I wish I could experience some of the feelings and people again that I’ve grown away from.

I want that feeling that means its the end of an era. I want that tingly feeling in the pit of my stomach that means this moment won’t ever happen again.
